Children’s
Services
Individual and Group
Therapy
Provided through
Outpatient Services, this department offers over 20 specialized
therapy groups to address the needs of children, adolescents, adults
and families. It also includes a Children’s Team to treat the
special needs of children.
Continuing Care
The focus of this
department is to combine treatment with community outreach and
education, advocacy for clients and their families, case management
and involvement with other agencies. These services are specifically
geared toward individuals who are discharged from state hospitals,
have had numerous community hospitalizations or require long term
chemotherapy.
ALPHA (for students
grades 7-12)
Adolescent Partial
Hospitalization and School is a program that meets six hours per
day, five days a week for students in grades 7 through 12. ALPHA is
a new beginning for students who have emotional difficulties. The
program provides an alternating schedule of counseling and academic
classes that will prepare them to return to their home school.
STP (Summer Treatment Program)

STP is an
eight week intensive program for children and adolescents
ages 6 through 15 who have a diagnosis of attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder, oppositional disorder or conduct
disorder. |

The program is held
June-August, five days a week from 9 AM to 3 PM on the campus of the
Indiana University of Pennsylvania . The focus of the program is to
improve the child’s self-esteem and social and emotional functioning
in order to function successfully in their family life, their school
and community.
SAP (for students
grades 7-12)
Student Assistance
Program (SAP) assists students and their families in identifying
barriers to student success, referring them to community resources
and providing follow-up service.
CM (Care Management)
CM services help
maintain mental health consumers in the community by building social
support, coordinating resources, finding proper treatment programs,
benefits and education. Twenty-four hour support available.
Wrap-Around Services
Intensive support
services for children and adolescents includes mobile therapy,
behavioral treatment planning, therapeutic support staff (TSS) and
case management. A wrap-around approach supports the belief that
children and adolescents with serious emotional problems can be
maintained in a community setting, avoiding hospitalization when
possible.
Family-Based Services
Family based services
are delivered in the home, school and community. Services include
family therapy, case management, crisis management (on call 24
hours) and accessing family support services. Maintaining children
and adolescents in the home and community is the top priority.
Developmental
Disabilities
The DD Unit of the
Community Guidance Center offers a wide range of services to
residents of Indiana County with developmental disabilities and
mental retardation as well as to their families or caretakers.
Professional caseworkers assist with medical needs, early
intervention, vocational/educational programs, residential programs,
respite care and advocacy. |
