STP 2004 is based upon Dr. William Pelham's renowned research and work with children and adolescents with ADHD. It is an intensive 10 or 12-week internship depending on requirements. Interns participate in 1 week of clinical training [out-of-town], 1 week of administrative training, and 8 weeks of treatment programming. The treatment program is offered to children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with ADHD and other psychological disorders and is held Monday through Friday, 7.0 hours per day (8:45 AM - 3:45 PM). Statistical analysis / research is also an integral part of the program. The treatment program will be conducted on the IUP campus, and will involve therapeutic activities in both classroom and recreational environments. It is a highly structured program built around a nationally recognized system of reinforcement / token economy tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. The program also contains a strong parent-training component. |
| All interns must be able to participate in the full 10-week program, including traveling for training. All interns must have a high level of motivation and endurance and be able to accept feedback. Some academic programs also require a final paper be written about the experience, in addition to completing all other program requirements. All applicants must first receive approval to apply from their individual school departments in order to receive credit. Please provide written approval from your department upon application. |

All staff and interns attend a comprehensive training experience. Training is an extremely intensive experience. Training days are generally 12 hours long, including breaks. Please note that a considerable amount of memorization, academic study, academic testing and physical activity is required as a part of training. |
